Details
Some journeys are about seeing wildlife. This one is about feeling it.
Carefully designed for those seeking something deeper, this experience moves across Tanzania in a way that feels both expansive and personal from the forests of Gombe to the open plains of the Serengeti. It begins in the west, along the shores of Lake Tanganyika, where time slows and the forest becomes alive with sound. Tracking chimpanzees through Gombe offers a rare kind of connection quiet, humbling, and entirely unforgettable.
From there, the journey shifts into the movement and energy of the Great Migration in the Northern Serengeti, before grounding into the wildlife-rich plains of Central Serengeti and the natural sanctuary of Ngorongoro Crater.
The final chapter unfolds in Tarangire, where ancient baobabs and vast elephant herds bring a sense of stillness and perspective. This is not a linear journey it’s a layered experience of nature, movement, and connection.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival in Dar es Salaam
Arriving at Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR), you’ll be welcomed and transferred to your hotel.
There’s no rush today. After your journey, this first evening is simply about arriving into the country, into the experience, and into a slower pace.
Day 2
Fly to Kigoma → Gombe
The day begins with a flight west to Kigoma, where the landscape shifts dramatically. A visit to the historic Ujiji site offers a brief moment of reflection before continuing to Lake Tanganyika. From here, a boat ride carries you across calm, open water toward Gombe.
Once you arrive, the environment feels completely different quiet, remote, and deeply immersive. A gentle forest walk in the afternoon introduces you to this unique ecosystem.
Day 3
Chimpanzee Trekking & Lake Experience

Entering the forest, the focus shifts entirely.
Tracking chimpanzees is unlike any other wildlife experience less about observation, more about presence. Movement through the forest is guided by sound, instinct, and patience.
Beyond chimpanzees, the forest reveals layers of life colobus monkeys gliding through trees, birds calling overhead, and subtle movements along the forest floor.
Later, the energy softens with time on the lake. A kayak glides across still water, followed by a quiet sundowner as the light begins to fade.
Day 4
Gombe → Kigoma
Another morning in the forest offers a final opportunity to experience chimpanzees in their natural habitat.
By afternoon, the journey returns across Lake Tanganyika to Kigoma, where the pace gently shifts again.
Day 5
Fly to Northern Serengeti

From forest to plains the transition is immediate.
Landing in the Northern Serengeti, the landscape opens wide, and the energy changes. This is where the Great Migration often unfolds, as herds gather near the Mara River.
An evening game drive begins to introduce you to this powerful environment.
Day 6
Northern Serengeti – Great Migration

The day centers around movement.
Wildebeest and zebra gather, hesitate, and surge forward in dramatic river crossings. It’s unpredictable, intense, and deeply moving to witness.
In between these moments, the landscape holds its own quiet beauty predators resting, birds circling, and herds stretching across the horizon.
Day 7
Central Serengeti

Traveling south, the terrain shifts again into the classic Serengeti landscape.
Golden plains, scattered trees, and rocky kopjes create the perfect setting for consistent wildlife encounters. Lions dominate the area, while cheetahs and leopards move more subtly through the terrain.
The day unfolds through exploration, without needing to rush.
Day 8
Serengeti → Ngorongoro Highlands (Walking Safari)

The morning begins with one final game drive before leaving the Serengeti behind.
Arriving in Ngorongoro, the experience becomes more grounded. A guided walking safari along the crater rim offers a different perspective slower, quieter, and more connected to the land beneath your feet.
Day 9
Ngorongoro Crater
Descending into the crater feels like entering a world of its own.
Wildlife is concentrated here in a way that’s rare, creating an environment where encounters happen naturally and often. The possibility of seeing the Big Five in a single day adds to the richness of the experience.
Day 10
Tarangire National Park

It’s a fitting close to a journey that has moved through so many layers of Tanzania.
By evening, you’ll transfer to the airport, carrying with you more than just memories something deeper, harder to define, but lasting.
